12th Provincial Chapter of Salesians of Don Bosco concludes

DIMAPUR, APRIL 8 (MExN): The 12th Provincial Chapter (Triennial Chapter) of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Province of Dimapur, comprising the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Upper Assam, Manipur and Nagaland, concluded on April 8 evening at the Don Bosco Provincial House, Dimapur.  

A press release informed that the 12th Provincial Chapter commenced with keynote address by Fr. K. Joseph sdb, former Provincial superior of Delhi Province, on April 5. He highlighted the importance of witness of our life above preaching. He presented the life of St. John Bosco and Pope Francis as shining examples to follow.

 The Chapter was addressed by Bishop Joseph Aind SDB DD of Dibrugarh on April 5 and Bishop George Palliparambil SDB DD of Miao Diocese in East Arunachal Pradesh addressed on April 6. In his concluding words, Fr. Nestor Guria sdb, the Salesian Provincial of Dimapur Province urged the participants to faithfully put into practice the lines of actions drawn up on different sub-topics of the Chapter theme so as to render quality service to the people, particularly to the youth of the region.  

Altogether, 79 Salesians from various Don Bosco institutions of the Province of Dimapur, including four secretaries and two observers, participated in the Chapter.  

The main theme of the Chapter was “Witnesses to the Radical Approach of the Gospel”. It was divided into two parts: First part dealt with Implementing General Chapter 27 in our communities, Reshaping the Salesian Presences in our Province, and Concerns of the Province.  

The second part examined our life as “Mystics in the Spirit”, “Prophets of Fraternity” and “Servants of the Young”, the release added.
