14th NLA passes two Government bills

Two Government Bills- Nagaland Fire & Emergency Services Bill, 2021 and Nagaland Goods and Services Tax (Sixth Amendment) Bill, 2022 have been passed today in the first session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) in Kohima.

Those Bills, moved by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and introduced on the Floor of the House on March 23, passed today.

The objective of the Nagaland Fire & Emergency Service Bills, 2021 is to regulate, control, operate, manage and activate the fire & life safety measures in the state.

The Nagaland Goods and Services Tax (Sixth Amendment) Bill, 2022 will make the Nagaland Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 more comprehensive, Rio stated.

Earlier, Rio laid the Nagaland Lokayukta Annual Report, 2022 and Nagaland Ceiling on Government Guarantee Rules, 2022.

He also tabled the Annual Administrative Reports 2022- 2023 of the departments of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Transport, Soil & Water Conservation, Nagaland Public Works Department, Sericulture, Information & Public Relations and Information Technology & Communication.

Rio presented the Supplementary Demand for Grants for the year 2022- 2023. He also tabled a copy of the Review of the trends in Receipts and Expenditure by the Minister-In-Charge of the Department of Finance, for the First, Second and Third quarter for the year 2022-23, as required under section 11 of the Nagaland Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act . 2005.

Nagaland’s Tourism and Higher Education minister Temjen Imna Along also laid the Annual Administrative Reports 2022- 2023 of Tourism and Higher Education.

CL John, Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Minister for Women Resources Development and Horticulture also tabled their respective departments Annual Administrative Reports 2022- 2023.
