The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) is all set to conducts 14th NWA Open Naga Wrestling & 1st Belt Wrestling Championship 2023 from March 17 to 18 in Dimapur.
This year, we are shifting the meet to Dimapur district to promote and encourage our Naga style of wrestling and also the belt wrestling, to encourage other Naga tribes to come and participate and also to come under the banner of NWA, said NWA president Dr. Hiabe Zeliang while addressing a press conference at NWA office Kohima.
The purpose is also to motivate young athletes in the field of sports especially, the art of Naga wrestling.
NWA president informed that over Rs. 8 lakh has been set as the prize money for the championship.
There will be 11 categories for belt wrestling. 7 categories for men- 49 kgs, 54 kgs, 59 kgs, 65 kgs, 76 kgs, 85 kgs and 100 kgs plus. Four categories for women- 49 kgs, 50 kgs, 53 kgs and 63 kgs.
The NWA will also provide Pay Per View package at https:mytvshows.in. Rs. 500 for one day and two day at Rs. 800.
Registration form will be made available in various locations. Kohima- Sports World, opposite Baroda Bank and Colors Studio, Tin Pati. Dimapur- United Sports Agency, Church Road. Jalukie- Ada Nsanglung Grocery, near 3S. Phek- S. Printer Enterprise, near District Transport office, Phek, Life Centre Bakery, Pfutsero and CP Stationery, Chozuba town. Last date for submission of registration form is March 13.
Meanwhile, NWA extended invitation to all the Naga tribes to come and participate and also to join the NWA banner in the promotion of Naga style wrestling”.
It also extended invitation to all “our Naga brothers” to come and participate in this championship.

Champion: Rs. 2. 10 lakh
2nd Position” 1.60 lakh
3rd Position: Rs. 1 lakh
4th Position: Rs. 80,000
Quarter finalists: Rs. 40,000 each
