17th NSF Martyrs Memorial Trophy

Our Correspondent Kohima | October 8   Nagabazar Youth Organization, Meriema Youth Organisation, and Nagaland Police (Red), today registered wins in their respective matches at the ongoing 17th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy being played here at the Kohima Local Ground.   In the first match of the day, Nagabazar Youth Organisation defeated Headwinds FC Chiechama in a thrilling match via tie-breaker to move on to the next round.   Both the teams were spirited and fought hard even as the first half ended goalless.   In the second half, the Headwinds took the lead in the 42nd minute through Vizosie-o Metha. Nagabazar then managed to equalize with Atho finding the back of the net in the 56th minute.   With both teams locked in a 1-1 draw at the end of stipulated time, the match was decided through a tiebreak, in which Nagabazar defeated Headwinds by 4-1.   Pauriayang (2) of Nagabazar was cautioned with a yellow card.   Meriema Youth Organization was awarded a walk over as Faith Sporting Club Dimapur failed to turn up for the second match.   In the last match of the day, Nagaland Police (Red) blanked Kigwema Students Union by 6-0. Limakumzuk opened the scoring in the 5th minute. Ratobe doubled the lead in the 10th before scoring his second in the 23th minute. Kekhrie also scored two goals – in the 20th and 29th minute, and Lipok completed the rout in the 63rd minute.
