192 fresh COVID-19 cases in Nagaland; 4990 active cases

Dimapur, May 28 (MExN): Nagaland reported 192 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday taking the total number of active cases in the state to 4,990. The new cases were detected from 1,084 samples, with a positivity rate of 17.71 percent, according to the health department’s daily bulletin.

Of the fresh cases, 61 were reported from Dimapur, Tuensang (47), Kohima (26), Phek (25), Zunheboto (14), Peren (5), Wokha (4), Mokokchung (4), Longleng (3), Kiphire (2), and Mon (1).

As per the bulletin issued by the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) 98 of the new cases were from self test and random test category, 50 from traced contacts, 39 from frontline workers, 3 from armed forces/security personnel and 2 from returnees/travellers.

A total of 5 more deaths were also reported on Friday—4 in Dimapur and 1 in Mokokchung, taking the death toll to 331 from 326 the previous day. This excludes 12 other deaths that were categorised as ‘not COVID related.’

According to the bulletin, 134 patients—65 from Dimapur, 38 from Kohima, 11 from Mokokchung, 9 from Phek, 7 from Peren and 4 from Zunheboto have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours. With this, the tally of recovered cases in the state now stands at 15,258.

In terms of severity of cases, 4,651 active cases were categorised as asymptomatic, 161 as mild symptomatic, 85 as moderate on oxygen, 64 were on oxygen, 21 in ICU (without ventilator) and 8 were in ICU (with ventilator). 

The cumulative tally of infections in the state as of May 28 was 21,215 out of which 624 have ‘migrated’ to other states.
