KOHIMA, OCTOBER 10 (MExN): Monsang Students' Union FC and Tribal Brothers secured their quarter final berths in the ongoing NSF Martyrs Memorial Trophy today.
Monsang Students' Union FC beat Rising Star (Mizoram) 5-4 via tie-break, while Tribal Brothers secured a 3-1 win against Tiema-Khe Kidima.
The first match between Monsang Students' Union and Rising Star (Mizoram) remained ended as a goalless deadlock in regulation time, forcing a tie break which the former won 3-1.
Alower(19), Ngamneirü (7) of Monsang Students' Union and Lun (3) of Rising Star (Mizoram) were cautioned with yellow cards.
The penalty scorers for Monsang Students' Union FC were Ngamphashing (15), Kagali (20), Augustine (14), Alower (19), and Ngamneirü (7); while the scorers for Rising Star (Mizoram) were Denga (13), Puitea (2), Ngaseng Yep (12), and Rinawma (10).
In the second match, Kevisekho Thokwhe (17) opened the scoring for Tiema-Khe Kidima in the 6th minute. However Tribal Brothers bounced back in the 61st minute with a goal by Laiwang (11). Three minutes later, Laiwang again netted the leading goal for his side with an assist from Sinlo in the 64th minute. Their win was capped off by Shurhosül (9), who converted a stunning third for Tribal Brothers in the 69th minute.
Eshong (21) of Tribal Brothers and Viketozo Thokhwe (9) of Tiema-Khe Kidima were shown yellow cards.
Tribal Brothers will play with Monsang Students' Union FC in the Quarter Finals on October 15.
