
Phek, August 28 (DIPR): The 1st Khuniho Memorial Trophy kicked off at Chozuba town on August 28. Deputy Commissioner, Phek, Kovi Meyase inaugurated the tournament which is being organised by the 111th BSF Battalion, Satakha town. The tournament is in memory of late Khuniho Sema, who along with his seven comrades made the supreme sacrifice of laying down their lives defending their post. The main objective of the organizers is to encourage and tap the young talents in the two districts, while also looking forward to make it into an annual event with more teams participating. In his speech the Phek DC thanked the CO and his team for organising such an event for the youths in the two districts. He encouraged the youths to dream big, citing the examples of the great footballers like Pele, Maradona and Ronaldo who were all products of suburbs and villages like in Nagaland. “Lack of practice, perseverance, dedication and discipline are the reasons our state is lacking behind other states,” he stated. The first exhibition match was played between the administrative staff Chozuba town and 111th BN, BSF.
