The district police of South Garo Hills arrested two drug peddlers on Monday while they were holding a commercial quantity of what has been identified as ‘Yaba’ tablets, which contain a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine to sell to users.

As per information received, the two had got the drugs from another peddler in Krishnai under Goalpara district of Assam and an investigation is currently underway to determine whether they were a part of a larger network of drug traffickers.

“We had received source information of the two selling drugs and set up a team to nab them. Upon locating them and searching we found some cases which contained 1001 tabs weighing about 99 gm. As the quantity is in commercial amounts, the two have been arrested,” said Superintendent of Police, Priyanshu Pandey.
