Kohima | March 22 : Two houses were completely razed to ground while affecting other adjacent buildings here below Alder College at around 12:30 PM. Kohima fire service personnel rushed to the spot to douse the fire. The fire reportedly caused due to a cylinder burst may have destroyed several lakhs worth of property. Human causality has not been reported at the time of filling this report.
Meanwhile, a major disaster that could have destroyed the priceless collections of World War II relics was averted when a fire which broke out along the National Highway and spread up the hillside leading to the WWII Museum, Kisama. The fire was successfully doused, informed Kughazhe K. Yeputhomi, Additional Director & HOD, Art & Culture.
The department has thanked the Fire Brigade Services and the staff of the museum for their prompt response even as the fire got just within a few feet from the War Museum. The fire started about 12:20 pm.
