2 kidnappers arrested by Phek police

Phek, May 2 (MExN): The Phek police arrested 2 persons involved in kidnapping of an employee of Madhucon Projects Ltd for ransom at Phek town on April 26.

According to Phek police source, the kidnappers were identified as Vevolhu, Lt of NSCN (Khango) and Mutuku Vero, cadre of NNC/ Non Accordist.

Police source stated that the employee was kidnapped by the duo at a shop and taken to an unknown location. The kidnappers reportedly demanded Rs 3 lakh for his release. Immediately, Police conducted raids at various suspected places and also with the intervention of public leaders, the employee was released unharmed and was later taken into police custody for investigation.

In this connection, police registered a case against the kidnappers. A special team arrested Mutuku Vero on April 28 at Phek town and subsequently the main accused Vevolhu was arrested at Yoruba village on May 2.

2 arrested for extortion
Meanwhile, one person identified as Sgt Major Serayi of Nagaland People's Government of Nagaland (NPGN) NNC/Non-Accordist and his accomplice Venepa  was arrested on April 30 by Phek Police on charges of extorting from the shops in Phek town.

Extortion receipts and an amount of Rs 2410 were seized from their possession, according to police source.

A case has been registered against them at Phek Police station for extortion under the IPC.
