Dimapur, April 7 (MExN): The Kohima police have booked two persons for allegedly travelling with forged vehicle documents on April 6 and have registered regular cases against the duo for further investigation. The Sub – Divisional Police Officer & PRO, Kohima, Atu Zumvü NPS in a press note informed that the first arrest was made when personnel manning the Khuzama inter-state check gate intercepted one tipper truck (NL0-7A-5451) with fake registration number plate. On thorough checking, two different vehicle documents were also recovered from the vehicle but the engine and chassis number written in both the documents did not tally with the one engraved on the vehicle, the PRO added. In this connection, One Md. Mainul Haque (26), of Haldapathar Village under Barpeta PS Barpeta District, Assam is taken into Police custody. The official said on further examination, the accused stated that, he was proceeding to Mao Gate to deliver the vehicle to a client for which he was assured of handsome amount after the delivery of truck is made. Two mobile handsets and cash amounting to Rs. 5000/- was recovered and seized from his possession. A regular case under Khuzama PS was registered against the arrested the driver. In another similar case, the second arrest was made when the combine teams of Anti Vehicle Theft Squad (AVTS), D.I.B of DEF Kohima and A/10 NAP (IR) personnel were conducting routine checking at Zhadima Junction Kohima and detained a Maruti 800 (NL-06-2602) on suspicion. On verification, it was ascertained that, the engine and chassis number of the Maruti car mentioned in Vahan Database and smart card (RC book) differs from each other, the official said. A regular case at Kohima Chiephobozou PS was registered against the car's owner Kmiyato Awomi (31 yrs) for conducting further investigation.
