KOHIMA, MARCH 1 (MExN): The Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio today said that the recently conducted election has been the “most peaceful election in the state,” and pointed out that the high voter turnout of 90.88 per cent indicates the “people’s willingness to participate in the democratic process.”
The Chief Minister congratulated the Chief Electoral Officer, J. Alam and the Election department for the “successful conduct of the 2013 General Elections.” In a letter to the CEO, Rio stated that the entire team of election officials including the administration, police, security agencies have performed their duties in “an exemplary manner and deserve to be congratulated.”
Rio further lauded the “positive participation” of the electors and the “contributions” of all sections of the people, including the Church organizations, civil societies, NGOs, press and media and the youth through the social networking platforms and media portals, for ensuring a “peaceful and successful elections.” He added that all sections of the people “deserve to be appreciated and congratulated.”
The CM asked the CEO to convey his appreciation to all officials, departments and agencies that have contributed towards the conduct of elections in Nagaland. He conveyed his appreciation to the Election Commission of India for the smooth conduct of elections in the state.
