24 years later, army officer’s remains to be exhumed

Dimapur, October 7 (MExN): After a period of over 24 years, the remains of Second Lieutenant ET Joseph, who was killed in an ambush on June 12, 1992 while moving from Chakabama to Jessami as part of a convoy, will be exhumed on October 10 at Chakabama in Nagaland.   A press release from PRO (Defence), Col C Konwer informed that due to situational constraints in those days, Second Lieutenant Joseph was laid to rest at Chakabama. His father, Subedar Major AT Joseph, who was then posted in Shillong, was the only member from the family who could attend the funeral. 24 years have elapsed since then, but neither Second Lieutenant Joseph’s mother nor his two sisters have been able to visit his grave, the release said.   On October 9, Second Lieutenant ET Joseph’s father, mother and both his sisters will be reaching Nagaland. The family will relocate the mortal remains of their son/brother from Chakabama to Kottayam in Kerala. They will leave Nagaland on October 12.
