In consonance with Digital India, Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang’s social media accounts – Facebook, Twitter and Instagram – were launched here this evening. They were formally launched by Parliamentary Secretary for IPR & SIRD Imtikumzuk at a function held at State Banquet Hall, Kohima.

The Chief Minister assured the people of Nagaland that all these media networks will be used for directly connecting with the people so as to understand their mindset, maintain transparency while performing his duties as a Chief Minister, obtain constructive suggestions and opinions from different sections of people on various government programmes and policies aimed at good governance, and also to bring about improvement in the overall delivery system.

“Today, social media network has become one of the most effective tools to connect people to people and disseminate information quickly,” he maintained.

The fact that the Digital India Programme is being actively implemented by the Government of India goes to further corroborate its ever growing relevance and indispensability in our day to day lives, he stated.

“As a small beginning towards meeting this end, the Chief Minister’s Office has decided to launch the social media network this evening with the sole objective of coming closer to the people by directly connecting with them through it,” Zeliang added.

He was confident that the people of the State will take the launch of the social media accounts as a positive initiative of the State government and that it will be used meaningfully and for the betterment of the society at large.

He urged upon the people, especially the youths, to meaningfully use social media to connect for constructive purpose such as promoting social harmony and unity amongst the different sections of people and desist from using it for harmful and negative purposes.

The Chief Minister also appealed to the people to use social media to render constructive suggestions, share views and opinions so that the government machineries can adopt such inputs considered to be beneficial for improvement of governance and also for the overall development of the State.

Regarding the documentary film on him entitled “T.R.Zeliang: The Story So Far” produced by Coreconxept Entertainment, New Delhi, which was released by Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio, the Chief Minister said, “This short film on my life has evoked a great sense of humility in me and my family members at the same time making us feel extremely honoured. I sincerely hope that this documentary on my life will not only serve as a living testimony of the struggles, the failures, the joys, the sorrows and fulfillments I have been through in my life’s journey, but may also be a source of inspiration to others.”
