269 new COVID-19 cases in Nagaland

The detection of COVID-19 cases in Nagaland continued a high trend as the State recorded 269 more cases on May 11.

As per an update from the State Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom, out of the total cases detected on Tuesday, 207 were in Dimapur while 40 were in Kohima, 8 in Tuensang, 4 cases each in Mokokchung and Mon, 3 cases in Phek and 1 each in Longleng, Zunheboto and Peren.

39.7%, or 107 of the new cases were detected through self test and random tests as per the Nagaland COVID-19 bulletin issued by the State Health and Family Welfare department.

Traced contacts accounted for 66 of the new cases while armed forces/security personnel and returnees registered 47 cases each. 2 out of the new cases on Tuesday were frontline workers.

Meanwhile, 45 patients also recovered from the infection on May 11.

With this, the total number of positive cases in Nagaland increased to 16,552 while total recovery was 12,779. There are 3,081 active cases in the State till date.

The COVID-19 death toll in the State also increased from 140 to 145 while 11 other deaths have been categorized as ‘not COVID related’.
