Mon, January 24 (MExN): The 28th edition of Phomching Area Students’ Union (PASU) General Session cum Sports and Literary Meet was held from January 15 to 22 at Phomching Town under the theme ‘Pursuance for Dignity’.
Pohwang Konyak, Advisor for Fire & Emergency Services, SIRD, Relief & Rehabilitation, Government of Nagaland graced the inaugural programme as the guest of honour.
The week-long event hosted more than a thousand delegates from the twelve federating units of the union, PASU informed in a press release on Sunday.
Around 800 youths participated in various events like football, volleyball, sepaktakraw, indoor games and athletics.
Literary events like singing, extempore speech, debate and quiz were also held, the release added.
Yamao, BDO Phomching Block was the special guest for the closing programe and Chingwang President KU unit, Longshen was the special invitee.
Nyakching and Ngapkhao chaired the programme which began with an introductory prayer by M Longshah, Deacon Phomching Town Baptist Church.
Welcome speech was delivered by Lazar Wangshu, Vice President PASU. Laipha Wangnao of Pukha Students’ Union presented a special number after which speeches were delivered by special guest and Atoi Konngam. Prizes and mementos were distributed to the winners of different events.
Women Coordinator PASU pronounced the vote of thanks and the programme concluded with a closing prayer by the Youth Director of Phomching Town Baptist Church.
PASU also informed that the next PASU General Session cum Sports and Literary Meet would be hosted by Nyahnyu Students’ Union.
