2nd Nagaland Film Festival: Celebrating films from North East India

Filmmakers of the north eastern states today converged here at Capital Convention Centre for a two day- 2nd Nagaland Film Festival which got underway under the aegis of Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), Government of Nagaland in association with Film Association of Nagaland (FAN).


In this festival, billed as “Celebrating films from North East India,” 20 films have entered in the competition (Fiction) and six in competition (Non- fiction).


Films in non-competition category includes; Aamis,  Achoubi in Love,  Bairabi- Zophai, Chori, Dhokbu, Ima Sabitri,  Kwtham Kothoma, Last Wish,  Mistake, Ma’ama, Protyush, The Lost Art of Artisanal Textiles, This Road I Know, Under the Longpfurr Sky,Village Rockstars,  Xopunor Xetu and 40 Years Through The Lenses.


Apart from screening films from all the North Eastern states, the festival featured master class, panel discussion and awards.


 “Aamis (Fiction)- Assam, “Under the Longpfurr Sky” (Documentary)- Nagaland, “Chori” (Documentary)-, “Last Wish” (Fiction)- Mizoram, Ma’ama (Fiction)- Meghalaya, “40 Years Through The Lenses (Documentary) - Arunachal Pradesh, “Kwtham Kothoma” (Fiction)- Tripura and “Xopunor Xety” (Fiction)- Assam have been screened today in the presence of many film lovers.


On November 1, screening of films will take place from 10: 00 onwards. “Ima Sabitri (Documentary)- Manipur, “Protyush (Drama)- Assam, “Achoubi In Love” ( Documentary)- Manipur, “The Lost Art Of Artisanal Textiles ( Documentary)- Nagaland, “ Village Rockstars” (Fiction)- Assam, “This Road I Know” (Documentary)- Manipur, “Bairabi- Zophai: Where We Bled For Our Land”  (Documentary)- Mizoram, “Mistake” (Drama)- Assam and “Dhokbu” (Action Adventure)- Sikkim.


Today’s master class session had Moji Riba, executive director, Centre for Cultural Research & Documentation. Nicholas Lemtur Kharkongor, Director of Axone will take the class the next day.


Sonia Nepram, Director and Producer of Bloody Phanek, Nilotpal Majumdar, Founder/president of Documentary Resources Initiative and Alexander Pou, Film Facilitation Officer (Eastern Region), National Film Development Corporation of India will conduct panel discussion on November 1 at 3:00 PM.


Meanwhile, award and closing ceremony have been scheduled at 4:30 PM.


Nagaland’s chief secretary Temjen Toy will grace the function.
