2nd Nagaland Women Futsal League to be held from May 11

Kohima, April 19 (MExN): The Youth Resources and Sports Department, Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with the Nagaland Football Association, will organise the 2nd Nagaland Women Futsal League 2026 from May 11 to 16 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.

A coordination meeting between officials of the department and the association was held on April 17 to discuss modalities for the smooth conduct of the tournament.

The league aims to promote women’s participation in sports and provide a competitive platform for aspiring futsal players across the state. A prize pool of up to Rs 2 lakh has been earmarked, with awards for Best Player, Best Defender, Best Goalkeeper and other individual recognitions.

The opening ceremony will be held on May 11 at the venue. Participation will be limited to a maximum of 10 teams on a first-come, first-served basis. Each team must comprise a minimum of seven and a maximum of 10 players, along with one team manager and one coach.

Clubs must be registered under their respective District Football Associations (DFAs) and obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC). At least 60 per cent of each team must comprise indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland.

Basic accommodation and food will be provided to participating teams at the stadium. Detailed registration information will be released shortly, officials said, urging eligible clubs to participate.
