KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 12 (MExN): The second Training of Trainers (ToT) programme on “Operationalizing Multi-Sector Skill Education in Grade 9 and 10” was conducted in Kohima from September 9 to 12 under the CSR initiative of LIC Housing Finance Limited (LIC-HFL), implemented by Lend A Hand India.

The training, hosted at St. Paul School, Phesama, was organised with the support of Samagra Shiksha Nagaland. It covered three modules—Fashion, Coding and Healthcare—facilitated by expert trainers from Lend A Hand India. The first three days included practical sessions, while the concluding day focused on pedagogy, lesson planning and assessments.

A total of 30 vocational trainers and subject teachers from 21 government schools and five private schools across five districts—Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Kiphire and Peren—took part in the programme. Representatives from the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) were present throughout the training, providing inputs on the pilot curriculum.

Addressing the participants on the final day, NBSE Academic Officer Dziesevolie Tsurho stressed the importance of equipping students with skills to address unemployment. He said the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023 emphasise skilling and a multidisciplinary approach, and called on teachers to prepare themselves with multiple competencies. “Once reforms in vocational education are rolled out in full, you will become assets to the education ecosystem. You must endeavour to become brand ambassadors for skilling in the state,” he said.

The valedictory session was attended by Dr Chumbeni Kikon, Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland; Dziesevolie Tsurho; and Father Charles D’Souza, Headmaster of St. Paul School. Certificates were distributed to participants.

The initiative aims to bridge academics with hands-on skills in line with NEP 2020 and NCF 2023, and empower teachers to foster holistic and future-ready learning for students in Nagaland.
