Dimapur, January 5 (MExN): The Dimapur police apprehended two persons from City Tower for extorting money from MAA Furnishing Store around 4:15 pm on January 4, 2018.
They were reportedly a members of NNC (Accordist) and identified as SS. Pvt NNC (A) Joel Zeliang, age 35 yrs, V/o Old Peren, Po/Ps Peren, P/A Burma Camp Dimapur and Ghoikhu Swu, 31 yrs, V/o. Ghokimi, Po/Ps Pughoboto P/A Lengrijan.
The Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur, Nagaland informed in a press release that cash of Rs. 4150 (Rupees Four thousand one hundred and fifty) along with two numbers of mobile has been seized from Joel Zeliang and another Rs. 500 (Rupees Five hundred) has been seized from Ghoikhu Swu. The arrested persons have been charged with relevant sections of law and currently under investigation
In another case, the AET of the Dimapur Police arrested one person on charges of extortion after he was found collecting illegal taxes from business establishments at New Market area around 5:00 pm on January 4, 2018.
The person was identified as SS 2nd Lt. NSCN(R) Angukavi Yepthomi @ Akavi, 26 yrs,V/o. Hekheshe Po/Ps Medziphema, P/A Purana Bazaar Dimapur (Petla Colony). Accordingly a case has been registered and investigation is going on.
