
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 25 (MExN): The ‘32nd General Conference-cum-2nd Academic Excellency Award’ of Dimapur Lotha Students’ Union (DLSU) on the theme ‘Strive for Excellence’ was held at Lotha Hoho Ki, on Thursday with Joint Commissioner of Taxes, Wochamo Odyuo and ASI Nzanbemo Yanthan as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Exhorting the students, the chief guest in his address dwelled on the theme of the conference and encouraged the students to work harder. Odyuo said excellence is an “incremental progress”, which requires perseverance and hard work. Stating that complacency is detrimental to both intellectual and personal growths, the chief guest urged the students to be thorough in everything they do and also to explore new avenues.
Yanthan in his address impressed upon the students to inculcate good values in their lives.
Dwelling on the misplaced sense of celebrations among youths and consumption of alcohol during such celebrations, he stressed on the evils of alcohol and how it could ruin a student’s life. Chairman, Lotha Hoho Dimapur, in his solidarity message said the Hoho would always extend support to DLSU in the latter’s initiatives to improve the lot of students.
More than 20 meritorious students received various awards including Late Nyamo Lotha Award, Late Sanchisao Award, Late Rhanlamo Award and DLSU award.
Earlier, DLSU president, Yanthanthung Yanthan, delivered the welcome address and general secretary, Pankathung Ezung, presented the Union’s report.
