Dimapur, August 7 (MExN): In an ‘Attestation Parade’ held at the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, Sukhovi, 346 recruits including 82 Mahila recruits were inducted into the Assam Rifles on August 6. Major Gen P C Nair, YSM, IGAR (North) reviewed the parade which was witnessed by a large number of audience including parents of the recruits. Addressing the recruits, Major Gen PC Nair highlighted the antecedents of the Assam Rifles as the oldest Para Military force of the country and its diversified role which is all encompassing in the present day environment, ranging from security to providing welfare and developmental assistance to the civil population. Nair stated that North East is a strategic area and its security is of paramount importance. “The Assam Rifles is playing a stellar role in this regard,” he mentioned.
Rfn Rahul Singh was awarded the Best All Round Recruit. Rfn Brijesh Kumar, Rfn L A Niran Singha, Rfn Rajesh Barman and Rfn Them Hokip were awarded best in Firing. Rfn Dilip Kumar, Rfn Appu Debbarma, Rfn Vijay Thapa and Rfn Choung Hokip were awarded best in Drill while Rfn Ajay Dorji, Rfn A Triputi Rao, Rfn Manoj Singh, and Rfn Sita Chaturvedi were awarded the best in Physical Training.
