The 3rd Aphuyemi Cup organized by the Aphuyemi Football Club was kicked off on January 27 at Ghathashi Town.
Zunheboto, January 27 (MExN): Defending champions Pughoboto Town Club began the 3rd Aphuyemi Cup on a winning note, defeating D Boys Ghathashi 1-0 in the opening match.
In the second match, Centre Club Mukalimi defeated Mishilimi FC 2-0 while United FC Chisholimi also secured a 1-0 win in a closely fought match against Ashu Hebo Club.
The 3rd Aphuyemi Cup organised by Aphuyemi Football Club was kicked off on January 27 by Chief Invitee Er Nagashe Swu, SDO PWD (R&B) Dimapur Division in Ghathashi Town.
17 teams are participating in the yearly event which will culminate on February 2.
Er Nagashe Swu urged the participants to reconnect and spread friendship through the tournament. He also advised the players to be disciplined not only in sports, but in every walk of life, adding that goals can be achieved through self determination and discipline.
Shiyeto Wotsa, in his presidential address, thanked the Pughoboto area for supporting the tournament.
