Dimapur, March 26 (MExN): Inauguration of the 3rd Mon International Trade Fair & Expo 2023 was held on March 25 at Local Ground, Mon Town, with the presence of BL Verma, Union Minister of state, DoNER & Co-operation as the guest of honour. The event was also attended by other guests including K Konngam, Advisor Treasuries & Accounts, Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland; Ajit Kumar Verma, Deputy Commissioner, Mon; and Anuradha S Chagti, Joint Secretary; N Simte, Under Secretary, DoNER; Sekhar Dey, APS; and Alok Rai, PA to Union Minister.

During the event, the minister expressed his admiration for the rich culture of the Konyak Tribe and their efforts in preserving their traditions. He also stated that the Ministry of DoNER, under the leadership of the Prime Minister of India, will provide maximum possible support for the inclusive development of remote areas such as Mon, according to a press release received here on Sunday.

The Deputy Commissioner, Mon, extended a warm welcome to the guests and participants, thanking them for taking time out of their busy schedules to attend the event. He also announced that the 15-day event will conclude on April 8, and will feature various programmes and performances from renowned artists, singers, bands, and other performers.

The Konyak Union President also expressed his gratitude and thanks to the District Administration and the Union Minister for their efforts in promoting local products, brands, and cultural and traditional development. He assured his full support to the organizers and wished for a successful event.

As per the release, the event also featured cultural performances by the Leangha Village Cultural Troupe, Chi Sheko Khong Mon Town, Mon Chamber Choir, Traditional Song by KNSK, Bihu Dance from Assam, Cultural Dance by KNSK, and a patriotic song by Atzing Konyak. Vote of thanks was delivered by H Berimong, SDO (C) HQ.

New GHSS Tizit building
Meanwhile, Union Minister of State also virtually inaugurated the new NEC-funded Government Higher Secondary School in Tizit building, from the NIC Conference Hall, Mon on March 25. 

On the occasion, he informed the participants about the vision and mission of the Ministry of DoNER, Government of India and special focus on North-eastern region. While dedicating the building to GHSS, Tizit, he hoped that the building would be instrumental in the educational development of Tizit Sub-division. He also informed that Tizit has been selected as a backward block and all necessary efforts are being taken to ensure the inclusive and participatory development, the release stated.
