40 Hours mediation training prog for judicial officers concludes

KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 5 (MExN): The valedictory programme of the 40 Hours mediation training programme for judicial officers and advocates of Nagaland State which began on October 31 was held today at SIRD, Kohima, a press release issued by PRA, NSLSA informed. 

OSD Registrar and Member Secretary, MCPC, Supreme Court of India, Mezivolu T Therieh, speaking after handing over the certificates, expressed hope that mediation will be taken forward in the state in the days and years ahead with judges and advocates being trained of the process. 

Therieh thanked the trainers for putting efforts in providing the best and latest techniques, information and knowledge towards the Nagaland participants. 

Dr Aditi Chaudhury, District Judge and Director, Delhi Judicial Academy encouraged the trainees to become forerunners of mediation in the state and take it forward to become trainers of mediation not only in the state but outside the state too. 

Chaudhury remarked that despite the technical curriculum, the training had been successful because the participants have felt the need and importance of mediation in the society. 

Sharing experience from the training, Judicial officer, Kesheli Chishi said that although, there were Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) system present under the Constitution of India, there were many other aspects of mediation that was important to be trained and get acquainted with. 

Earlier, the programme was chaired by NSLSA Member Secretary, Victo Sema, NJS. During the 5 days 40-hour mediation training, 28 judicial officers and advocates completed the training. The programme was organized by Nagaland State Legal Services Authority under the aegis of Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC), Supreme Court of India from October 31 to November 4.

Trainers for the training include Dr Aditi Chaudhury, District Judge and Director Delhi Judicial Academy; Nagina Jain, Advocate, Mediator Trainer, Delhi High Court; Harish Dudani, Principal Judge (Rtd) Delhi and Jaya Goyal, Advocate Mediator Trainer, Delhi High Court.
