Lumami, January 31 (MExN): As part of the Ashtalakshmi Darshan Youth Exchange Programme, 40 students from Kerala and Ladakh will be visiting Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus from February 1 to 14. The Ladakh Team is led by Dr Rinchen Dolma and Sonam Gytso, while the Kerala Team is led by Aju TG and Dr Garima Gupta.
The Ashtalakshmi Darshan Youth Exchange Programme, an initiative of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and the North Eastern Council (NEC), Shillong, aims to promote “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” by fostering national integration, cultural understanding, and mutual respect. The programme is sponsored by DoNER and NEC.
The objective is to provide 1,280 students (aged 15–29) from 28 non-NER States/UTs with the opportunity to engage with the culture, geography, and development journey of the North Eastern states through a structured 14-day exposure programme. The initiative focuses on promoting people-to-people bonding, understanding borderland dynamics, and enhancing awareness about the diversity and potential of the region.
Apart from classroom lectures on the eights states as well as North East Region as a whole, the delegates will tour a few historical and culturally important locations in Nagaland. The team of Nagaland University includes Prof Jungmayangla Longkumer (Nodal Officer), Dr Kevineituo Bier (Nodal Faculty), Dr Sabbithi Pavan (Nodal Faculty) and Peter Ki (PRO).
