41-yr-old tests positive for COVID-19 in Mizoram after two vaccine shots; tally at 4,995

Aizawl, April 20 (PTI): A 41-year-old man, who has taken both the doses of COVID-19 vaccine, is among the 91 people who tested positive for the disease in Mizoram on Tuesday, pushing the state's tally to 4,995, a senior official said.

Of the 91 fresh cases, 76 cases were reported from Aizawl district, 10 from Lawngtlai, three from Serchhip and one each from Kolasib and Lunglei, he said.

Thirty-two of them have travel history, and the rest have locally contracted the infection, the official stated.

Mizoram currently has 437 active cases, while 4,546 people have recovered from the viral disease. Twelve people have succumbed to the infection.

As many as 2,77,638 samples have been tested so far, including 2,038  since Monday, the official said.

According to the state immunisation officer in Mizoram, 94,332 people have been administered the first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 34,135 have received both the doses. Meanwhile, the Mizoram government has imposed a seven-day lockdown in the state capital and 10 other district headquarters to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission.

    The lockdown, which commenced on Tuesday, will continue till 4 am on April 26.
