Department of School Education, Nagaland released scholarships to 42,836 students for the year 2014-15 under Pre-matric Scholarship Scheme, a 100 % centrally sponsored scheme of Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India.
According to the annual administrative report 2015-16 of the School Education Department tabled in the recently concluded assembly session of NLA here, the money was released to the respective District Education Officers who then transferred the money to the respective bank accounts of the students or parents or guardians.
The Government of India has introduced Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the beneficiaries’ accounts for 2015-16. The report stated that with the introduction of DBT, release of fund for 2015-16 is still in progress due to technical difficulties for uploading the beneficiaries’ list in the National Portal for Scholarship.
