Assuring one of the biggest and most exciting wrestling championships in the district, the 44th Autonomous District Council (ADC) Senapati Rising Day celebration will be held for two days on July 31 and official rising day on August 1.
In the presence of ADC leaders and district administration, the two days event has the best of open wrestling championship with a whopping prize of Rs. 1 lakh for the winner and seven other prizes including the consolation prizes. Till the filing of this report, 49 strongmen of the district registered to compete for the coveted wrestling championship at Senapati public ground.
The inaugural day on July 31 will be graced by ADC Chairman ML Markson as chief guest while Vice chairman John Hingba will be guest of honor. The famous female gospel band Life Pages will enthrall the crowd apart.
The Council Rising Day on August 1 will be graced by Tamenglong ADC Chairman Namsinrei Panmei as chief guest, Ukhrul ADC Chairman Dr. Yaronsho Ngalung as guest of honor, Senapati ADC Chairman ML Markson as chief host and Deputy Commissioner Jacintha Lazarus, IAS as special guest of the function. The event will also witness the grand finals of the wrestling where the winner will walk away with specially designed Championship belt and Rs. 1 Lakh. The runner up, the 3rd and 4th prize winners will receive Rs.70, 000, Rs. 50,000, and 30,000 respectively while four consolation winners will pocket Rs.10,000 each.
Meanwhile, in public information issued by the organizing committee, it has informed the general public that, in view of the 44th Council Rising Day on August 1, movement for all heavy vehicules will be restricted from 9am till 12 noon and all shops and business establishments within Senapati town will remain closed from 8am till 4pm. However, schools and educational institutions will be exempted from the closure.
