Chetheba, Rukizu enter men’s basketball semis

Chetheba Town and Rukizu team today booked their berths in the semi finals berth after winning their respective men's basketball matches on the fourth day of  the 50th anniversary meet of Chokri Area Games and Sports Association (CAGSA) at Phüsachodü village under Phek district.

In the first quarterfinal match, Chetheba team defeated North Kikruma 49-27 points and will now play against Thipuzu in the men's basketball semis.

Rukizu overpowered Kikruma by 49-35 points during the second quarterfinal match. They will take on Thenyizu team in the semifinal match.

In men's volleyball, seven times champions Thenyizu village kick started their campaign winning both their matches to mark their entry to the next round. They defeated Kikruma by 25-11, 25-15 and Thipuzu by 25-14, 25-15.

Phüsachodü, Chesezu, Chetheba, North Kikruma also registered wins in their first league matches on the fourth day.

Phüsachodü (men) continued their good form in football by thrashing Chikri Nasa 7-0. Zhoveto Chuzho and Dzüthotsoyi Medeo struck twice, while Nuvoto Theluo, Vevochuyi Puyo-o, Kuluveyi Curhah scored a goal each for the Phüsachodü team.

With back to back wins, Phüsachodü topped the group B table and secured their entry into the quarterfinal.

In women's football matches, Shodulü Swiho scored the first hat-trick of the meet, which helped Thenyizu village win over Chikri Nasa 6-0.  Swiho scored four goals while Khrukhosalu scored twice for the Thenyizu team.

Goals from Vesetalu Swuro and Nusatalu saw Chesezu women team to a comfortable win against Chetheba team 2-0 and set up a quarterfinal clash against Khulazu Bawe.

Meanwhile, in the encounter against Rukizu team, Neisuzolu Theluo’s lone goal for host team Phüsachodü helped them secure a slot in the semifinal round.

Thipuzu beat North Kikruma 1-0 and will now play against either Kikruma or Khulazu Basa in the quarterfinal round.

On February 5, the first match will be played between Kikruma and K Basa in the women's football event.

For volleyball (men), Chetheba will play their second match against Chikri Nasa while in women's basketball, Chesezu team will take on Rukizu in their respective grounds.
