51 health units in Nagaland receive Kayakalp Award

The state government today gave away Kayakalp Award to 51 health units across the state for the year 2020-21 for promoting cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene in public health care facilities.

Handing over the award to the recipients at the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare here today, Nagaland Health & Family Welfare Minister S Pangnyu Phom said that Kayakalp is a Clean Hospital Initiative under the National Health Mission, launched by the Government of India

Kayakalp envisage in promotion of Cleanliness and Hygiene and Infection Control Practices as a critical part in all Hospital.

He said that with the introduction of this initiative in the state in the year 2015-16, one of the main benefits that the medical fraternity have seen is, boosting the involvement of the community in the activities of the Health Units in the form of timely social work and contribution in cash and kind towards the improvement and upkeep of the health facilities.

“Since 2015 till 2019, around 150 Hospitals have been felicitated under this initiative in our state and with which the Health Units have further improved the infrastructure, logistics and the surroundings so as to create an enabling environment for the beneficiaries as well as provide quality health care,” the minister said.

Over the years, the success of this initiative have hinged on the improvement of the public health services and thus created demand generation towards the public health institutions from the beneficiaries and also enhanced the commitment of the service providers, the minister said.

He lauded all the team members of the 51 Health Units which have been felicitated today, for their commendable job and appealed not only them but also all under the umbrella of Health Sector, to continue working relentlessly towards the betterment of the public health service.

The minister also appealed the community for their continued support towards the Medical Department, as health is everyone’s concern.

“Let us work towards improving our health scenario so that one day it can become a model for other states to emulate,” he added.

Amardeep Singh Bhatia, principal secretary, Health & Family welfare department, Nagaland and Dr. Thorhusie Katiry, Mission Director, National Health Mission Nagaland and others also spoke at the programme.     

The programme was chaired by Dr Mereninla Senlem, State Programme Officer, National Health Mission Nagaland while vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Vikato K. Kinimi, Director (Health), Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland.

District Hospital: 1st:  Phek (Rs 25,00,000), 2nd: Dimapur (Rs 15,00,000), 3rd: Tuensang (Rs 10,00,000)
Commendation: Mon, Kiphire and Mokokchung (Rs 3,00,000) each
Community Health Centre: 1st CHC Bhandari (Rs 10,00,000)
Commendation: CHC Changtongya (Rs 1,00,000)
Best Primary Health Centre: PHC Kimipfuphe (Kohima), Mongsenyimti (Mokokchung), Wozhuro (Wokha), Longpang (Tuensang), Thuvopisu (Phek), Dungki (Peren), Yongnyah (Longleng),  Changlangshu (Mon), Satakha (Zunheboto) and Likimro (Kiphire) Rs 2,00,000 each.
Commendation: Longkhum and Chuchuyimlang (Mokokchung), Sitimi (Kiphire), Athibung (Peren), Khonoma, Botsa and Chunlikha (Kohima), Ruzazho and Dzulhami (Phek), Chukitong and Nyiro (Wokha), Chare (Tuensang), Chümoukedima, Suruhuto (Zunheboto) and Tamlu (Longleng) Rs 50,000 each.

Urban Primary Health Centre: UPHC Mokokchung, UPHC Seikhazou and UPHC Potterlane (Kohima), UPHC Duncan and UPHC Burma Camp (Dimapur) Rs 50,000 each.
