Wokha, March 13 (MExN): The 5th edition of the three-day Departmental Sports Week concluded at Bhandari, Wokha on March 12.
In his speech, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bhandari, Longasen Lotha lauded the Bhandari sub-division based head of departments and the government servants for their pro-active role in making the sports week successful, stated a DIPR report.
The ADC Bhandari encouraged the participants to appreciate the fact that winning alone is not the central objective of the sports week, but keeping oneself healthy and active physically and mentally. The tournament gives a platform for building good relations, promoting friendship and discipline through teamwork, and should be valued as a source of motivation in serving the people to the best of their abilities, he said.
Altogether, twenty four departments participated in the tournament. In the final football match, 7th NAP defeated School Education Department by four goals. In Badminton singles, the district administration defeated Education Department whereas in doubles, the 7th NAP defeated the district administration in the final. In Carrom singles, GHSS defeated the forest department while in doubles the 7th NAP defeated GHSS. District Administration & DEF, Wokha won over the Social Welfare team in women’s penalty shootout.
