December 16 morning was different from the other days at Dimapur Ao Baptist Church; six couples said their vows and walked down the aisle. This event attracted shutterbugs from different media houses to capture the wonderful couples through their lens.
The couples were C Narola Jamir & I Rosang Aier, Imdongdangla & Bendangnungsang, Limanungla & Meyisunep, Lanutola & Imlilong Ao, Alemtula Longkumer & Supongtemjen and T Asenla Aier & L Matsungshiba Jamir.
The event was initiated by Dimapur Ao Baptist Church, in a bid to encourage couples to solemnize their vows in church at minimal cost and time.
Mass wedding was conducted even last year in two days. The first day had three couples and the next day had two couples, said Rev Maong Lemtur, the pastor who ministered the ceremony today. He said this year had the highest number of couples in a day and the Church is looking forward for more participation next year. “…this is an encouragement”. The pastor revealed that the church has so many members and at times it becomes hectic to conduct wedding ceremonies everyday especially during the “wedding season”.
A partaker of the occasion said that mass wedding is a good concept and it will help families who are economically not so prosperous.
Today the church provided tea and snacks to the well-wishers after the ceremony. Also, the decorations for the day were sponsored by the church.
