Athletic events will mark the ongoing 63rd Kohima Village Sports Association (KVSA) meet 2018 on January 15 at Khuochiezie (Kohima Local Ground).
The events will start with 100m race (Men) from 9:30 am onwards.
Other events for the day include 100m race (women), discuss throw (men), broad jump (women), 200m race (men & women), javelin throw (men), high jump (women), 800m race (men), 400m race (women), 1500m race (men), discuss throw (women), high jump (men), broad jump (men), shot put (men), 400m race (men) and 4X200m relay race.
Athletics events will continue till January 16.
Volleyball (Men) and chess event on January 16 will take place at Khuochiezie and Indoor Stadium respectively.
Schedule for January 17 includes: football (Men), Basketball (Men & women), Volleyball (Women) at Khuochiezie, table tennis and badminton at Indoor Stadium.
The finals for football, basketball volleyball, badminton (Open categories), table tennis (Open categories and chess (Individual) will take place on January 18.
Wrestling meet and cross country race has been scheduled for January 19.
Altogether, 400 youth representing four khels – Lhisemia, Tsiituonuomia, Dapfhiitsumia and Pfuchatsumia will vie for top honours in different disciplines.
44 Gold medals will be awarded including silver and bronze in this meet, according to host Kohima Village Youth Organization (KVYO).
It may be recalled that the denizens of Kohima on Saturday evening witnessed a grand opening ceremony of the 63rd KVSA meet 2016. It was for the first time that the sports meet took place on an evening since its inception in 1944.
The glittering opening ceremony evoked thunderous response from the spectators including on social media.
