Diphu, February 28 (MExN): The Hills People’s Cultural Forum (HPCF) observed the 68th Death Anniversary of Ru Semsonsing Ingti at Kala Kendra, Diphu.
According to a press release, the Hills People’s Cultural Forum, formed with organisations of different Tribes/Communities of Karbi Anglong Autonomous District, Assam, observed the anniversary along with representatives of organizations/NGOs.
Chairing the program, HPCF Chairman Laichan Engleng spoke about marching with a positive mindset and expressed his views to build a momentum in creating peace among the brothers for a just nation. The gathering paid homage to Semsonsing Ingti by lighting candles and observing a minute of silence.
A brief biography was shared to the gatherings by Amlong Ingti, Secretary General, HPCF, after which from leaders from different Tribes and Communities delivered speeches.
During the event, a resolution was taken by the Forum to declare Semsonsing Ingti as the “Father of Karbi Anglong District”. His ideologies and principles were also discussed during the event, the release stated.
In this, the HPCF appealed to all the peoples of Karbi Anglong District to follow the life of Ingti in rebuilding a prosperous Karbi Anglong. The forum also appealed to the educated youths as well as citizens of Karbi Anglong to come forward united “with a common goal, a vision to excel and promote communal harmony; eradicate anti-social elements which is the need of the present generation.”
Phenpiga Rengma, Vice Chairman, HPCF stressed on the power of Unity, selfless attitude, and how, regular exchange of cultures binds the differences among the Hills Peoples into Peace, Harmony and development in the region.
Participants of the event included representatives from Karbi Students’ Association (KSA), Rengma Naga Students’ Union (RNSU), Dimasa Students’ Association (DSA), Kuki National Assembly (KNA), All Assam Bengali Youth Students’ Federation (AABYSF), Axom Jatyabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU), Karbi Anglong Bhojpuri Students’ Association (KABSA), Manipuri Cultural Society, Karbi Anglong (MCS), All Adivasi Students’ Association of Assam (AASAA), Chakma Cultural Society (CCS), Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO), Women groups and NGOs.
