The 6th Mokokchung Inter-School Badminton Championship 2025, organized by the Mokokchung District Badminton Association (MDBA), concluded on Saturday after four days of competition and spirited sportsmanship.
Held from April 23 to 26, the championship witnessed participation from 170 players — 120 boys and 50 girls — representing 14 schools across the district. Over the course of the event, a total of 240 matches were played across 23 different categories, showcasing the talent of Mokokchung’s young shuttlers.
In the Open Category Team Championship, Jubilee Memorial School (JMS) emerged victorious in the male division, while Queen Mary Higher Secondary School (QMHSS) finished as runners-up. In the female division, QMHSS claimed the championship title, with JMS securing the runners-up position.
Trophies, medals, and certificates were awarded to the winners in both the team and individual categories.
The closing ceremony was graced by Lieutenant Colonel SA Pillai, Senamedal Commanding Officer of the 25 Naga Battalion NCC, Mokokchung, who attended as the Special Guest. In his address, he encouraged the players by highlighting the value of sports in life. “If you are into sports, whatever sport it may be, then half the battle is won because sports give you physical ability, strength, and the go-getter personality that helps in all walks of life,” he said.
Limsang of Jubilee Memorial School was awarded the Most Promising Player of the championship for his outstanding performance in the Under-11 category. The Best Disciplined School award was conferred on Christian Residential Higher Secondary School, recognizing their exemplary conduct throughout the tournament.
