Kohima, September 25 (MExN): The Chief Veterinary Office, Kohima, in collaboration with Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), Kohima, National Rabies Control Programme (MRCP) and Department of Health & Family Welfare will be commemorating World Rabies Day 2026 on September 28 at Veterinary Hospital, Tinpatti, Kohima at 7:30 A.M.
It will be held under the theme “Stronger Together,” to highlight the importance of collaboration and shared responsibility among communities, veterinary professionals, healthcare workers, local authorities and animal welfare organisations in achieving a rabies-free India.
The programme will be chaired by Dr. Ketholenuo Metha, Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer, Kohima.
Dr. Nounengulie Kire, Public Health Specialist, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare will be the resource person.
The programme will also witness speeches from B. Henok Buchem, Deputy Commissioner & President SPCA, Kohima and Krodi Rhetso, Sr. S.P & Vice-President SPCA, Kohima.
As part of the programme, free anti-rabies vaccination for pets will also be made available to the public.
