7th Economic Census operation launched in Nagaland

Kohima, August 26 (MExN): The 7th Economic Census 2019 under the aegis of the Ministry of Statistics and in collaboration with CSC eGovernance Service India Limited was launched on August 26 at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Kohima by the Principal Secretary, IT & C and Power, K.D Vizo.
According to a DIPR report, Vizo in his address said that the economic census 2019 is the census of the Indian economy through counting of all entrepreneurial units in the country which are involved in any economic activity. All household establishments engaged in non-agricultural economic activities including construction, except public administration, defence and compulsory social security are proposed to be convened in the 7th Economic Census.
He said that the common service centre (CSC) in partnership with Ministry of Statistics and programme implementation (MoSPI) has been tasked with the responsibility of data collection and related activities of implementing the 7th Economic census. He also said the MoSPI will use IT based mobile application for data collection verification and supervision and CSC will be an active partner in this endeavour.
Vizo stated that we are in the era of knowledge economy and having good data is important. He said that the strength and relevance of a country or a state depends on the quality of data it has because henceforth every transaction will be now be made online for accurate transactions. In this regard, he said that the IT & C and Economics and Statistics Department will ensure accurate and authentic data so that the correct economic status of the state is being reflected.
Vizo also said that the data collected would be useful for every section of the society in future and therefore he requested the general citizens to give full cooperation while conducting the 7th economic census.
Simultaneous launching programme were also held in other seven districts namely Phek, Wokha, Zunheboto, Kiphire, Longleng, Mon and Tuensang with the concern Deputy Commissioners while the remaining three districts Dimapur, Mokokchung and Peren will commence on the first week of September 2019.
The CSC has engaged 1252 Enumerates and 305 Supervisors (total of 1557 manpower) who have undergone training for the deployment on the field as Enumerators and Supervisors for the 7th Economic Census which will be covering 2264 Enumeration areas (1481 rural and 783 urban Enumeration areas).
The programme was chaired by Commissioner & Secretary Economics & Statistics, Kelei Zeliang.
KOHIMA: The Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the 7th Economic Census Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie NCS launched the 7th Economic Census for Kohima district in his office camber in present of its Committee members, Supervisors and Enumerators.
The DC Kohima said that Economic Census exercise will cover a total number of 107 villages with a total of 30,000 household approximately and under urban areas there will be a total number of 148 enumeration blocks and Six (6) Investigator Units. The activities in the field will be carried out by a total number of 49 supervisor and 174 enumerators.
For this exercise a series of training for supervisor and enumerators were conducted in sub divisional and district levels by District Manager Kohima, CSC-SPV Nganuo Kielienyu and Vikhoto Kapu as resource persons in order to conduct the exercise successfully.
KIPHIRE: The Launching program of 7th Economic Census was conducted at Kiphire district at Deputy Commissioner Office’s Conference Hall on 26 the August 2019. Along DC Kiphire M. ShayungPhom. Phom said that the census is conducted not only in the state of Nagaland but in the entire country. D.C. further encouraged the enumerators to be sincere and do justice in their assigned duties. He also urged the public to give their cooperation if the enumerators if they face any difficulty during the process of enumeration. Horiba, District Manager CSC SPV e-governance Kiphire presented the key note address.
ZUNHEBOTO: The 7th Economic Census 2019 for Zunheboto district will be starting from 26th August 2019. Therefore all the ADCs, SDOs and EACs under Zunheboto district have been requested to inform the VCC/GBs under their respective jurisdiction about the Economic census and also provide full cooperation and support to the enumerators/supervisors in carrying out their census details.
