83 vehicles caught with faulty indicator lights in Dimapur

Dimapur, April 10 (MExN): In an effort to promote road safety, the Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) in association with the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) organised night Mobile Lok Adalats at two locations in Dimapur on April 9.  

The primary purpose of the Lok Adalats set up at Court Junction and 7th Mile was to ensure that indicator lights of various vehicles were in proper working order, a press release from DDLSA informed.  

In random spot checks conducted by the personnel of the DCP (Traffic), the release said, a total of 83 vehicles were found to be plying with defective or non-functional indicator lights.

  The defaulting vehicles were penalised under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, with nominal fines amounting to a total of Rs. 12,800/-. The Panel Lawyers of the DDLSA also stressed on the importance of proper maintenance of vehicle lights in the larger interest of public safety.  

The release mentioned that DDLSA has been conducting such Lok Adalats on a regular basis with the objective of creating awareness on both the rights as well as responsibilities of citizens.
