Dimapur, February 26 (MExN): Excise Narcotic Cell duty party manning the Excise Check Gate Khuzama during routine duty on February 23 intercepted a Tata vehicle bearing regd no RJ 07 GB 2645 and on frisking the vehicle recovered 86 bags of poppy straw (2150 kgs approx) concealed beneath several bags of wheat bran. According to Katoho Sumi, Dy Commissioner Excise (Narcotic Cell) Dimapur the consignment originated from Tadubi, Manipur and was being brought down to Khatkati, Assam. In this connection, after investigation, two accused Subash Dey (32) and Md Saiful Islam (18) were arrested and booked under Section 15(c) of NDPS Act' 85. The seized consignment along with the two accused were forwarded to judicial custody in the court of special judge NDPS Dimapur. The case is presently under investigation, it added.
