938 new cases of HIV positive in Dimapur dist

Dimapur, February 27 (MExN): The 4th quarterly meeting of District AIDS Prevention & Control Committee (DAPCC) of Dimapur District was held at DC conference hall on February 27. 

 


Acoording to a DIPR report, M&E Asst. DAPCU, Yanger Aier, presenting the HIV scenario in the district highlighted that during the period of April 2019 to January 2020, 12,512 person were tested for HIV from which 881 were found to be HIV positive under general category and 57 pregnant women were found to be HIV positive from 4,025 tested. 

 


According to the official, the routes of transmission were: sexual 95%, parent to child 3% and needle syringes 2%. 

 


On ART status, he informed the gathering that a total number to 10,836 person were registered as on January 31, from which 7762 patient started ART, 1020-died, 4564-alive and on ART and 613-lost to follow up.

 


During the meeting, the house discussed in length on preventing transmission of HIV from mother to child, different programme and schemes for infected and affected people, nutritional support and problems faced by the beneficiaries to avail the benefits, shortage of manpower at ART centre and various possible platforms for awareness.

 


Earlier, DC Dimapur, Anoop Khinchi IAS who chaired the meeting called for better coordination among all stakeholders in the district and an action plan to achieve the desired goal. 

 


Other highlights of the meeting included presentation on TI NGOs Accelerate (OVC) by PO NETSU, Anna Hairang and Programme Coordinator, Nukshinaro respectively.
