Nagaland Health Minister Imkong L Imchen today toured the Changkikong and Japukong ranges under Mokokchung district and interacted with the villagers and inspected the health centers in these areas. He was accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Dr Benjongliba, MLA and Advisor Bamboo Mission, Dr Longri, MLA Amen Yaden and a host of officials from the medical department and also officials from the administration.
The entourage visited Khar village where a public meeting was held; then it proceeded to Mangkolemba sub-divisional headquarters, Longchem EAC Headquarter and finally to Yajang ‘C’ village.
On his first stop at Khar village, the Health Minister said that they are touring the area to know about the public demand and the public pulse since the budget session is scheduled to be held in the month of July. He said that the need for repairing the pathetic road condition in Changkikong range is well understood and said that the DPR has already been made for repairing the road. However, he said that since the cost of repairing the road was huge, the government is planning to approach the central government for some schemes because the state funds would be insufficient to repair the road which is in a pathetic condition.
Also commenting on the dilapidated condition of the Khar village dispensary, Imchen promised to open a Primary Health Centre at Khar to see to the needs of the patients in the village. He opined that a leader should do something out of nothing and therefore asserted that the elected legislators have entered the election with an aim to serve the people and therefore their commitment to serve the people is always with them. However, he said that the legislators cannot promise the moon and the stars to the people, but the immediate needs of the people have to be addressed, and so they are touring the areas to get first hand information about the needs of the people. He therefore invited the people to come to them whenever they need the help of the legislators and said that the gates will always be open to the public.
Meanwhile, Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Dr Benjongliba while speaking at the meeting, disclosed that the agriculture department has a ‘Vision 2025’ which aims for the Nagaland state to achieve food sufficiency by year 2025. In this regard, he asked the people to shift from traditional mode of farming to modern farming and implement machineries and fertilizers so that Nagaland can achieve food sufficiency in the near future. Besides, he said that during this third term of DAN-III, the government is aspiring to bring in more developmental activities so that the Naga society can be at par with other developed societies in the world. He therefore urged the people to render their wholehearted support to the DAN government so that the dreams of making a prosperous developed Nagaland state can be achieved through the initiative of the government and the support of the people.
MLA and Advisor Bamboo Mission Dr Longri, who hails from Khar village and Independent MLA amen Yaden also spoke at the programme.
