AAN participates in 5th Northeast Angling Festival

Dimapur, October 7 (MExN): Anglers Association Nagaland (AAN) participated in national seminar and 5th Northeast Angling Festival National Interactive Seminar on ‘Masheer in Recreational Fisheries and Eco Tourism in North East India: Scientists- Stakeholders- Entrepreneurs Meet-Cum-5th Northeast Angling Festival’ organized by ICAR – Directorate of Coldwater Fisheries Research at Jasingfaa Aqua Tourism Centre on October 1 and 2 at Nagaon Assam.   The programme was inaugurated by Parimal Suklabaidya, Minister of Fisheries Government of Assam, who was also the chief guest.   More than 60 renowned scientists, Research Scholars, Expert Anglers and ICAR officials participated from all over country. The programme also witnessed the participation from Department of Fisheries, Entrepreneurs and Anglers from all Northeastern states.   The seminar had Panel discussions, Keynotes, and Angling Workshops. From Nagaland Power point presentations was given by Ricky Ozukum, General Secretary, Anglers Association Nagaland. He presented on the river system of Nagaland, different Masheer species and other indigenous fishes of Nagaland. He highlighted on different opportunities Nagaland can offer for eco tourism as well as for game fishing. He further briefed the delegates on the different conservational activities the association have been campaigning against, especially for the rampant use dynamites, chemical and electrical current in river system.   Altogether, 36 anglers from Nagaland participated in the 5th Northeast Angling Festival which was organized side by side along with the conference where Taliakum Longkumer and Mhonbemo Ngullie of Anglers Association Nagaland won the 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.
