About Us of the ‘Gimme Gimme’ fame has recently signed a multi record deal with Frontiers Records Srl, Naples Italy. Frontiers Records promote established international bands like – Mr. Big, Def Leppard, Extreme, White Snake, Michael Kiske, Stryper, and White Lion to name few.
The multi record deal with About Us is a first in the state of Nagaland and second in the country. Manager of the band, K Edward Ngullie informed that the record deal was signed on April 8, 2022.
About Us is an ‘experimental melodic hard rock’ band formed in the winter of 2019.
Giving details on the signing of the label, Ngullie informed The Morung Express that after the release of their debut album and second music video ‘Right Now’ on December 18, 2021, the band’s media department went on overdrive mode. “Somehow our songs caught their attention. And the rest, as they say ‘is history’,” he said.
About the signing of the contract with Frontier Record Label, the band said, “At first we were apprehensive as our knowledge regarding the whole thing was somewhat limited. But they were very patient, considerate and accommodating.”
“Long days and weeks of research, consultations and deliberations, we finally agreed on an understanding and the deal was signed on 8th April 2022,” they stated.
It is also informed to all fans and listeners that all songs and videos have been temporarily deleted from streaming sites for the time being as the Frontiers Records will be re-released worldwide by the label in a few months’ time.
With this new contract, About Us said, “It changes the whole band’s perspective, as it broadens our horizon with international exposition. This in itself is a great thing. It challenges us to push our standards higher and higher.” The band added, “The future holds good, as it comes with international commitments.”
Under the new label, the first project for the band would be a new album. “We will be working on our second album by October-November.”
Currently, as part of the agreement, the band is busy with their acoustic version of their original exclusively for Japan, which according to the manager, will be completed in a week or so.
With this new feat, About Us has a message for the artist in Nagaland, “Believe in yourself, and do things you love most with grit and determination because dreams do really come true when we work hard.”
“It’s God’s providence,” the band asserted while giving credit for getting the contract.
New line up
Meanwhile, the band has also informed that the initial lineup of the band had a slight change, when their drummer had to leave for personal reasons. He was replaced by Yanithung Enny, former drummer of AOF (Aisle on Fire) in February 2022.
The present line up comprises of Sochan Kikon- vocals; Renlamo Lotha-Guitars; Ponathung Kikon- Guitars; Sorenenthung Kikon- Bass; Renbomo- Keyboard; and Yanithung Enny- Drums.
The band is managed by K Edward Ngullie who is also a song writer and social worker. He runs all the affairs of the band.
The band released their first singles ‘Loaded love’ on December 21, 2020 which was received with a mixed response. However, their next project garnered whole lot of reactions. The music video was well received by listeners all over the state and beyond, reaching almost half a million viewers in a few months’ time.
Wrapping up busy 2021, the band released their first self-titled album and their second music video ‘Right now’ on December 18, 2021.
