DIMAPUR, AUGUST 18 (MExN): The Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland on Friday announced that it is contemplating to host a public rally on August 25, 2017 at Super Market area, Dimapur which would be the “largest ever gathering of outraged and concerned citizens in living memory.”
A press statement from ACAUT said the public rally would be in protest against the “sad state of affairs, the general corruption and the decay in governance leading to widespread resentment from every quarters, including teachers, students, and the common man.”
“The scourge of corruption has shamed us all, and in desperate times such as this, the silent majority cannot afford to be silent anymore at any cost. What Nagaland needs now is for the silent majority to leave aside their petty differences and stand united in the idea that in the end we are all Nagas, and show to the world that we can break down the mighty wall of corruption created by greed and selfish politics,” ACAUT stated.
In this connection, ACAUT has called for every Naga from every creed, denomination, clan and tribe to come out to the streets to make the proposed rally the ‘mother of all rallies’ and send a strong message that enough is enough. “Every individual is asked to stop complaining from the comfort zone of their homes; the lakhs of social media bloggers are appealed to attend the rally in person and voice their protests at the pathetic road conditions, and the widespread corruption which has robbed the Nagas of dignity as a race in the eyes of the world.”
The ACAUT also appealed to all the tribal hohos, youth organizations, student unions, and the chamber of commerce in all the districts of Nagaland to send thousands of people for the rally.
The ACAUT further appealed to all the churches in Nagaland to pray for the success of the rally this coming Sunday, that is the 20th August. Nagas and the churches should understand that corruption has shackled us all in poverty, underdevelopment, and backwardness and therefore, the battle is as much spiritual, it added.
