Cautions of State wide bandh if resolutions are not adopted by September end
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 29 (MExN): The Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland today urged the Nagaland State Government to listen to the voices of the people and implement the 7 point resolution which was adopted during the August 25 rally in Dimapur.
A press note from the ACAUT Nagaland said that the resolutions, if adopted, “can transform the state into an oasis of peace, development and prosperity, if sincerely implemented by the GoN and GoI both.”
The ACAUT and the Naga people are all out for sanity and good sense to prevail, it stated, while specifically pointing to the demand to institute Nagaland Lokayukta and termination of all backdoor appointees “which were done in total violation of High Court order dated 8th June 2016.” It reiterated that the demands be met before the month of September ends.
“However in case the GoN refuses to do so, it should be prepared for full-blown state-wide agitation,” the ACAUT cautioned.
It meanwhile called upon the Naga people - irrespective of clan, tribe, denomination, political affiliation, or geographical location- to be prepared to “wage the moral battle” should the Government of Nagaland decides not to heed to the voice of the people.
It will require each of us to set aside our differences and stand united as one, it asserted.
At the end, the ACAUT said that it’ll be the collective resolve of the people which will ultimately decide which side prevails: “the sane demands of the Naga people or the selfish interest of the most corrupted Naga government in history.”
The most decisive battle in the ‘War Against Corruption’ is at hand and thus, it stated, while claiming that the process to cement people’s efforts to reclaim Nagaland is already underway. “This generation must stand up for the coming generation; the people especially in the towns and districts head quarters must stand up for the people in the hinterland who are counting on them,” it urged.
The ACAUT Nagaland urged the Nagaland State Government not to test the patience of the people and fool around but to wisely heed to the demands of the people before the deadline expires. At the end, the people are only demanding their constitutional right to live in dignity, it said.
It meanwhile expressed gratitude to all the organizations and individuals for coming forth without hesitation to be part of the rally, as well as the adoption of the 7-Point Public Resolution.
“Being a people’s movement, the ACAUT Nagaland held this rally with the sole intention to give platform to different voices and act as a channel to facilitate the voice of the people. The ACAUT will always continue to welcome those who stand for Naga solution or are against corruption,” it said.
