Dimapur, Oct 4 (MExN): Making a significant statement expressing solidarity with the plight of People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs), the Naga Peoples’ Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) today challenged the people of the state to accept the realities of the disease and stand with the +ve people. The NPMHR also resolutely expressed solidarity with PLWHAs and asked the people to learn from the +ve community “how brave they are”.
This noteworthy statement of the NPMHR, an organization more given to political matters, is expected to usher in a major policy-influencing perspective to the fight against HIV/AIDS in the state.
“The time has come for people to accept the realities and stand by the positive people. (The NPMHR) also calls upon Nagas to rise up to the realities and enable positive men and women to live dignified lives” NPMHR Convener Dr Lanu Longkumer urged in a condolence message issued on the demise of Seyie Dolie, president of NNP+ who passed away October 2 at Dimapur.
“Society has to learn from these people as they are the epitome of courage in spite of all the challenges they have and continue to face. (The NPMHR) pledge support to all those who have been infected and affected by HIV even in the future. We will always be with you” the Convener assured PLWHAs.
The NPMHR also hailed Seyie Dolie for his courage in facing life, which, the organization stated, is an example that the people should learn from. “We have to learn from him and the community (+ve people) as they demonstrated how brave they are. They stood for the larger cause of justice and their struggle provides every Naga inspiration” the NPMHR acknowledged and assured full solidarity with the affected community.
