Acquisition of land for Tseminyu Township on cards

KOIMA, JUNE 16 (DIPR): If things go well as recommended Tseminu will very soon have another township in the area. This was recommended at the   monthly Kohima District Planning and Development Board held on June 15 at Tseminyu under the Chairmanship of DC, Kohima, Ramakrishman, IAS.

After discussions and deliberations, the Board approved the following for recommendation to the concerned authorities:

•     Constitution of Sub-divisional Planning and Development Board, Tseminyu Sub-Division.

•     Transfer of administrative control of Power & Forest Office from Wokha to Tseminyu headquarter.

•     Expansion and acquisition of land for Tseminyu township.

•     Inclusion of c hairperson, Tseminyu Town Council as DPDB member.

•    Government grant-in-aid to Grey’s School, Kohima, Schola Lojes School, Kohima and Bethel School, Chiechama.

Parliamentary Secretary, Fire Services & Cooperation, R. Khing who also attended the meting expressed happiness over the DPDB meeting being held at Tseminyu stating that it is a good platform for the implementation agencies of various Departments to dwell not only on agendas  but also to look around how much development has been achieved in the Sub-division and how much is desired to be implemented. He said that Tseminyu is the oldest administrative unit in Nagaland and gave an overview of various improvements that can be implemented in the Sub-Division.

The Parliamentary Secretary,also said that the government is giving importance to farmers and has and has thus declared the year 2006 as the ‘Year of the Farmer’. Various programmes, conferences and seminars are also being held in all the districts to facilitate the farmers.  Khing reminded that the APMCs have very important roles to play. He requested the Board to consider recommendation of proposing a separate APMC for Tseminyu Sub-division and the meeting decided to recommend the matter to the government for approval.

DC Kohima also observed on the attendance of officers in DPDB meetings  stating that there should be positive participation of all the members.
