
Kohima, October 30 (MExN): Family Planning Association of India (FPAI), Nagaland Branch conducted Adolescents Education Programme Plus (AEP+) at Assembly of God High School, Kohima on October 29 with resource persons Akangkokla Namo, Programme Officer and Sentilemla Longkumer, Monitoring and Evaluation officer FPA India Nagaland Branch.
FPAI Nagaland Branch in a press release stated that the session was conducted separately for boys and girls wherein the students were made aware about the physical, emotional and cognitive transition that occurs during adolescent stage.
Namo mentioned that adolescent is a stage of exploration and it is normal to experience changes and desires but it is important to learn and understand the consequences of every action which will affect their lives either negatively or positively.
The students were also educated on the transmission of HIV, menstrual cycle, negative consequences of substance abuse and sexual assault.
Longkumer urged to maintain hygiene to avoid infections and diseases relating to sexual and reproductive system. Counseling sessions were provided to some students identified by the teachers.
