Nagaland School Education Advisor Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome on Saturday inaugurated a futsal court at D Khel Ground in Kohima village, saying proper coordination and need-based development are essential for the effective implementation of government projects at the grassroots level.

The sports facility, constructed under the Iconic Project 2025-26 of the Local Area Development Programme (LADP), was inaugurated in the presence of community leaders, public representatives and local residents.

Speaking at the programme, Dr Yhome said the state government has been allocating Rs 2.20 crore to every constituency under the LADP and Iconic Project, describing it as a substantial investment for a financially constrained state like Nagaland.

He urged the public to ensure proper implementation of projects and schemes through collective coordination and by focusing on the actual developmental needs of the people.

The advisor also acknowledged the efforts of the Iconic Project Committee, Village Adoption Committee and all others involved in ensuring the quality construction of the futsal court.

Later, Dr Yhome distributed agricultural machinery, including power tillers, brush cutters, water pumps and paddy threshers, to farmers and thanked the Agriculture Department for extending the equipment to the beneficiaries.

He expressed hope that the machinery would significantly boost agricultural activities and improve farm productivity in the area.

D Khel Council chairman Keneizezo Yiese lauded Dr Yhome’s leadership and thanked him for facilitating the construction of the sports infrastructure, saying it would help nurture local sporting talent.

He urged the youth to make full use of the facility, compete at higher levels and bring laurels to the community.

Neilakuolie Yiese, president of the Farmers Wing of the 10th Northern Angami Assembly Constituency, also addressed the gathering.

The programme was chaired by Dapfhütsumia Youth Organization (DYO) vice-president Noumvüzolie Sachü, while Thinuohelie Sachü, Associate Pastor of BRC, offered the invocation prayer. The vote of thanks was delivered by Zakievou Sachü, convenor of the Iconic Project Committee.
